A Tribute to George Grigg, Sr., AIA Emeritus

George Grigg, an architect at Gresham, Smith and Partners from 1976-2010, passed away on January 14, 2017 at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer. George served GS&P in many roles: as a project architect, project manager, project principal-in-charge, director of architecture and as a project office leader in Florida and Georgia. George also served as the firm’s director of quality practice, while simultaneously performing a role much like an internal legal counsel for more than 20 years. During his time at GS&P, George also served as a member of the GS&P Board of Directors and a member of GS&P’s Executive Management Team.

George is remembered as a wonderful colleague, mentor and friend. He was inspirational to many people with his straight-forward approach to working hard for clients, the firm and sharing his experiences and knowledge with employees of all levels in their career. In addition to contributing to the firm’s practice, George took pride in bringing GS&P employees together. From leading the singing of carols in the office at Christmas time, to organizing office picnics and serving as the founding commissioner for the GS&P Fantasy Football League, George will always be remembered by so many for enjoyment and comradery with his colleagues. George’s bright smile, kind spirit and passion for GS&P will be missed by many.
