Dedicated to the success of the profession, we work to advance the value of architects and increase the living standards of people by improving their built environments. The AIA, representing 77,000 members, is the largest voice of the architectural community. We are committed to helping architects meet today’s challenges by:

  • Educating the public to strengthen the value of architects and the profession’s overall role in the building industry.
  • Using our influence in legislative and regulatory concerns that affect and potentially govern architects’ professional lives.
  • Researching new job markets and career specializations to ensure architects can meet society’s needs now, and in the future.
  • Expanding the architectural knowledge base as changes in the profession occur. Offering a network for support and information exchange with colleagues and industry professional across the country and the globe.

The AIA is a triparteid federated organization meaning we have three points of entry into the organization. The AIA by-laws require that every member belong to the local, state, and national levels of the Institute as available in your area. This tripart membership ensures comprehensive representation at every membership point; local, state and or nationally, affecting the decisions that may impact your profession, your career, and your community. No matter where you live, the AIA strives to respond to your professional needs and the public you serve. We offer a wide array of services, benefits, products, and resources to our members as well as electronic access to informative databases, archives, and networks. Since you are a professional dedicated to the highest standards of the profession, we invite you to join the American Institute of Architects. We invite you to stand with us in developing public awareness of the value of architecture and the importance of good design.
