Composite Materials and Pultruded Fiberglass in the Window and Door Industry

Overview

This presentation, desinged by Integrity Windows and Doors, looks at the history, properties and performance characteristics of composite materials, and more specifically of fiberglass. The pultrusion process is describerd and AAMA-rated fiberglass finished are discussed. Environmental impact of fiberglass manufacturing is also addressed.

AIA COTE Meeting - Competition Announced!

As a response to the devastation that occurred in Haiti this past January, we, the AIA: COTE MidTN chapter, have decided to host a competition that addresses the need for disaster response shelters. This initial meeting will discuss issues, scope and potential parameters for the competition.

Please do come and join us. We hope to make a positive impact on a global level with sustainable principles as a guiding force.

COTE monthly meetings will resume beginning the first Tuesday of March (3.2.2010). Along with this meeting, we are excited to announce that we are in the initial planning phases of a design competition for Haitian disaster-resistant temporary housing. YAF has committed to join COTE to help lead this competition that could provide much needed solutions for pre and post disaster shelters for under-developed and disaster prone nations and populations. Our March meeting will serve as a work session to further develop the criteria and goals of this competition idea. All members are invited to join and help plan and develop this program. Much help is needed from many volunteers to make the most of this opportunity.

It's that time again! The Young Architects Forum Competition is here again and we look forward to your entries!

In an effort to reduce paper, we are not mailing the entry form this year, but instead emailing it to you (see attached) and it is also on our new and improved website: www.masonryinsttn.com.

We look forward to seeing all of your hard work and appreciate your involvement in the competition. Remember, 1st place will receive $1000, 2nd place will receive $500, and third place will receive $250!! Also, your work will be presented as awards for the Excellence in Masonry Competition held in the summer.

A small office/sole practitioner, a large firm practitioner, a human resources director, a graphic designer, and a marketing/social networking professional will comprise the group of reviewers. Schedule will include a round table dinner followed by a 10 minute per person speed review from each 'juror'.
